The Aquarius has announced the weekend showtimes, and we'll be going to the 8:00 PM show. Since this is the only night showing, I suggest getting your ticket in advance. You can purchase tickets online from Landmark, by going to the Landmark Ticketing Page. Now, on with the show...
While waiting for a heart transplant that could save his life, Pierre (Roman Duris) grows close again with his sister (Juliette Binoche) and her lively children. This rediscovery of his family and observation of the teeming streets outside his window give Pierre a new, hopeful sense of how he might spend the time still left to him.
I caught this over the weekend, in the City, and it's a real charmer -- and not just because Juliette Binoche is so beautiful (and only getting more so...). It's a movie about finding the right balance in all the dualities: birth/death, finding love/losing love, youth/age, hope/despair, the historical past/the urgent present, etc., etc. And, it manages to do all this without the smug irony that makes so many American movies so emotionally false. You'll feel better for having seen it, and if you don't already love Paris, this might start something. Official "Paris" website.
For those who'd like to meet and eat prior to the show, meet at: University Cafe, starting at 6:30 PM. We're going to be a large group, so be prepared to cluster at multiple tables, as necessary. Please remember to bring CASH, to make paying easier for everyone. Dinner reservations are now CLOSED. We have 32(!!) for dinner. To make it easier to be served, we'll be sitting at multiple tables of 6-8. Please be on time. See you there!
The show will end at approx. 10:30 PM. If you'd like to meet after the show for coffee/dessert/chat, gather outside the theater, and we'll pick a place.
If you use the Landmark ticketing page to buy your ticket online, be sure to change the date to Sat., Oct. 31, first. Otherwise, you won't see "Paris" as an option for the Aquarius Theater!
I'll be there for eats. Might be a little late, because of work. Defenitely for movie.
Darius.
